What Your Patients Can Expect
The SmoothLipo™ system uses proprietary technology to reshape and re-contour your patients’ problem areas. This minimally invasive procedure uses continuous wave laser energy to gently and uniformly heat adipocytes to cause their destruction.
 This heat also leads to a retraction of the collagen fibers in
the surrounding tissue, making the skin look tighter. While results
will appear shortly after the procedure is completed, clinical
studies1 have shown that for several months following the
procedure, adipocytes continue to die off and collagen is
regenerated, resulting in a smoother, more consistent outcome.
The SmoothLipo procedure is similar to that of traditional liposuction,
with respect to the way in which it is performed. The advantages of Laser-Assisted Lipolysis are:
- Minimal bruising occurs
- Possibly a smaller incision at the treatment area
- Faster recovery
- Less invasive than traditional liposuction
- No general anesthesia required
- Patients can walk away after the procedure and be back to normal activities quickly
- The skin is often firmer where the fat has been removed
Although the SmoothLipo technology is ideal for reduction of fat in problem areas, cellulite is not specifically addressed. If cellulite is also a concern of your patient, SmoothLipo can be used in conjunction with our proprietary SmoothShapes® cellulite reduction technology to enhance results.
Additionally, a few SmoothShapes treatments prior to a SmoothLipo procedure will prepare the adipose tissue slated for removal during Laser-Assisted Lipolysis, allowing for more complete fat removal during aspiration without sacrificing safety.
